…Of Women’s Bodies.  The Republican War on Women is alive and well

The Republican Religious Party is winning the war to gain control of women’s bodies, and therefore their reproductive lives.  I am thankful that my daughters are grown now and do not plan any more children.  I am terribly sorry that my 4 years old granddaughter will now have the state control her choices as a reproducing female in America.  Evil religion is behind all this.

• ARIZONA now has the earliest surgical abortion ban  in the nation at 20 weeks, and the earliest medical abortion ban at 7 weeks.   Arizona sucks; it is controlled by a Republican religious junta.
• ALABAMA wants to make it nearly impossible to receive RU-486.  All women move awayquickly…the state of Alabama does not have your best interest at heart
• GEORGIA’S horrendous “women as livestock” bill forces women to carry non-viable fetuses to term.  Women as Livestock…aka women are not allowed to control their own bodies.  Horrendous doesn’t even begin to describe the evilness of this law.  The South Sucks
• TENNESSEE is criminalizing harm to embryos.  Just try drinking a glass of wine, or walking into a smoke filled room there.
• TEXAS women are forced to look at the image of their most likely “trans-vaginal” ultrasound and listen to the fetal heartbeat.  This is actually State Rape…you will not be allowed to opt out of this travesty.  Thank your local Republican politicians for this.  Another failed state.
• MISSISSIPPI will become the first abortion-clinic-free state in July. (Just picture the license plate slogan!)  Everyone with any sense will leave this failed state soon.  Mississippi stands at the bottom of all indicators of a happy place to live
• SOUTH CAROLINA seeks to eliminate abortions in the case of rape from their health plans.  Also planned is to eliminate abortion in case of Incest…this is the grossest form of state control ever.
• WISCONSIN Planned Parenthood clinics have halted all medical abortions.  Quick leave the state.  Republican Religious Party governor Scott Walker is being recalled for being a asshats.

America is rapidly approaching being a State controlled fascist country…and it is the Republican Religious Party and their doublespeak tactics that is leading us there.  They and their church buddies are Evil.

Republicans Are Trying To Abuse Women Again

The fight against domestic violence is getting a lot harder in New Hampshire.  The Republicans have introduced two bills in the state’s legislature that will prevent police from protecting domestic abuse victims.

 This article from the Concord Monitor explains:
“Domestic violence is no longer taken lightly legally or by society. That’s the way it should be, but two bills under consideration by this most unusual of legislatures, would undo that progress and put lives in danger. Both deserve a speedy defeat.

House Bill 1581 would turn the clock back 40 years to an age when a police officer could not make an arrest in a domestic violence case without first getting a warrant unless he or she actually witnessed the crime. That’s an exceedingly dangerous change.

Consider the following scenario, one outlined for lawmakers by retired Henniker police Chief Tim Russell:

An officer is called to a home where she sees clear evidence that an assault has occurred. The furniture is overturned, the children are sobbing, and the face of the woman of the house is bruised and bleeding. It’s obvious who the assailant was, but the officer arrived after the assault occurred. It’s a small department, and no one else on the force is available to keep the peace until the officer finds a judge or justice of the peace to issue a warrant. The officer leaves and the abuser renews his attack with even more ferocity, punishing his victim for having called for help.
…

It’s impossible to say how many lives the policy, in place since the 1970s, has saved or how many injuries it’s prevented. If they adopt House Bill 1581, lawmakers might find out, but the price paid could be extraordinarily high.”

The other prospective bill, HB 1608 would limit a judge’s discretion to have a violator of a domestic violence restraining order arrested and would interfere with polices ability to stop the threat of domestic violence…and seriously eliminate restrictions to offenders in violence cases.

Now this fits in perfectly with the new Religious Republican agenda of stripping rights and protection of the law from the women in our ‘equal’ society.  They will stop at nothing to oppress and violate the sovereignty of our Moms, Daughters, granddaughters, and Sisters… bodies and souls.

This of course is driven by the evangelical fundamentalist leaders of the Republican Party in the US, and their desire to put the modern women back in her place as a homemaker and baby maker…barefoot and pregnant as it were.  It’s all about religion…at the expense of the human rights of all women.

Those darn ol’ Republicans are at it again trying to make abortions illegal in another state…it’s because they care so much for the little folk…  Not

“Florida state Rep. Charles Van Zant (R) is starting 2012 with yet another radical effort to ban all abortions in the state unless the woman’s life is in danger. Declaring that “the Legislature acknowledges that all persons are endowed by their Creator with certain unalienable rights, and that first among these is their right to life,” the Florida for Life Act would essentially (and unconstitutionally) make it a felony to perform an abortion except when a physician meets very specific circumstances. The Florida Independent reports.”

This is all brought about by Evil Christian religion and ruthless sycophant politicians who don’t really care for their constituents.  The British call them Arse lickers, some politely call them brown nosers, lackeys or toadies…I go along with the Brits.

Doctors would face a maximum penalty of life imprisonment.

Raped or molested you say…tough sh_t.

‘They’ are behind schedule, but getting closer and closer. Think warrantless searches…where the DHS and other government agencies can enter your home while you are gone and search your house and computer, never tell you, and threaten your neighbor who might witness the intrusion that if they tell you they will go to jail, and it’s not just used for terror suspects anymore. And of course you already know that the government can get a list of books you check out from the library and forbid the librarian from tipping you off.

No cameras in your house yet, but they’re spreading all over the public spaces in some cities. In London they (the government) can probably video track you all the way from when you leave your house to go to work to when you come home at night. Last estimate I heard was that there were 2-4 million CCTV cameras surveilling the citizenry. In America those traffic light cameras are multiplying like bunnies and in large cities the CCTV cameras are getting much more common.  The trend doesn’t seem to be slowing down and now face recognition can easily identify people on the street.

There are many critics of this kind of surveillance and their fears are not unfounded.  There is the real possibility that we may not be able to met anonymously or walk or drive around the city without being recorded.  If there is a demonstration going on and you stop to talk, this can be recorded and wrong suspicions could possibly be raised.  The state does NOT have the right to track your everyday movements…but they want to be able too.

Militarized Police in America

The military like counterinsurgency tactics that police used to subdue peaceful and unarmed demonstrators at various Occupy Wall Street (OWS) encampments around the country have left many citizens shocked at the monstrous and evil treatment the police used against non-confrontational peaceful protestors…they were treated like enemy combatants in a war.  We see machine gun carrying policemen dressed in military like combat gear…military grade equipment and military tactics.

When your local police force is armed with military equipment and has a head fill of military tactics learned at seminars that the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) and Department of Defense (DoD) puts on for police forces all around the country, you may not want to attend any protests like OWS and possibly get disabled or killed.

They are teaching these tactics so the citizens right to peaceably protest anything our government does will be quickly smothered and others will be persuaded that it’s too dangerous to dissent.  If your friend or neighbor is sent to the hospital with a brain concussion for marching to protest government graft and incompetence…like OWS is…you might not go out on the next day’s march or protest.

Government does not like anyone to dissent from their use of power, to object to the illegal and/or underhanded things they do.  After all we are the world leaders in everything, and we have God on our side and cannot do any wrong.  If you don’t like it move to Russia or Iraq.  If you are a dissenter you are unpatriotic and probably a communist or socialist.  If you disagree with our government you need to die.

 

Heard or read sentiments like these have you?  Our American government Disinformation and Propaganda Bureau is on the job…heh–so is Fox News.

Anyway, the police forces were established to protect the peace and safety of its citizens and the community; not to use SS tactics on peaceful people who happen to be demonstrating.  Our military is created for killing foreign, hostile armed forces, the enemies of freedom, and the jackals who oppose our freedoms.  Today our police forces have military grade equipment and military tactical training; this is a disaster waiting to happen…remember the Kent State shootings; military armament and soldiers against ‘flower power’ civilians?  How about ‘Ruby Ridge’ and ‘Waco’; military might and tactics against civilians?

Ever hear those conspiracy theories about our armed forces being trained to kill their own countrymen?   You know like those soldiers in Egypt, Syria, and Libya did.

Exactly what type of military equipment is in the arsenal of police departments in America today?

The average patrol officer carries a usually semi-automatic handgun and perhaps a backup gun, a pepper spray canister, a taser, a baton or nightstick and handcuffs.  This is normal and expected, after all these men go into strange and deadly scenes with some regularity, they need to defend themselves.  Nowadays however, with having so many strategic alliances with the military and DHS agencies, the list of equipment has grown exponentially and it’s very deadly stuff.  The New York PD boasts that they can take down a 747 airliner.

In 1994 a Memorandum of Understanding between the Dept. of Justice and the Dept. of Defense authorized the transfer of military technology to local police departments around the country.  This was surplus equipment normally reserved for use in wartime.

As a result of equipment sharing the Department of Defense, by 1997, had handed over a million + military items to law enforcement agencies around the country. Among the items were almost 4,000 M-16s, 185 M-14s, 73 grenade launchers (grenade launchers for Christ’s sake) and over 110 armored personnel carriers.

At the end of 2005 nearly three quarters of a billion dollars worth of military grade equipment was distributed to some 17,000 police departments.  This included such things as over a thousand night-vision goggles, a few hundred more grenade launchers for Christ’s sake, almost 8,000 M-16 rifles, and some Blackhawk military, missile & 50 Cal. machine gun carrying helicopters…for Christ’s sake.

After the War on Terror started and the Department of Homeland Security was created, the money started flowing rapidly to our police departments everywhere.  It helped with everyday equipment such as walkie-talkies, bulletproof vests, ammo and such, but it also started a run on really out there apparatus such as a 9 ton bullet proof vehicle called a Bearcat G3, that has gun ports, tear gas dispenser and a battering ram, and even weaponized drones…you know like they use in Afghanistan to spy on the bad guys from the air…I just had a flash day dream of drones using their Hellfire missiles to take out a OWS protest in Dallas….

Billions and billions of taxpayer dollars go into the blackhole of government subsidies and programs every year…the majority of this money ends up with the 1%…the cronies of our senators and congresspersons. It’s not used to create more jobs…it’s used to line the nest of the recipients.

No body cares; this 1%, and the government officials they pay-off, have brainwashed and confused the common person so well they even end up defending the rich and ruthless traitors…think tea-party.

Republicans Continued Assault on Women

Connecting the Dots of the GOP Assault on Women

At a time when women in other countries like those in newly liberated Egypt, for example, are rising up to demand their rights, we women here in the United States are struggling to keep our hard-won gains.

We might ask whether there is a link between the moves in Congress to turn back the clock and what is going on in states like Wisconsin.

Beginning in the late sixties, the women’s liberation movement succeeded in opening up the world of work to us women, demanding in the process, and in many cases getting, equal pay for equal work, allowing us a fragile economic independence. Many married women now had the choice of being a full-time homemaker or earning an income or even pursuing a career.

Critical to those of us who had paying jobs were preschool and after school childcare services. Now, House Republicans have deleted money for Head Start, a program that provides preschool daycare to children from families whose mothers out of necessity labor at minimum wage jobs outside the home. At the same time, middle-income families are hard pressed to pay for private preschool care for their children.

Perhaps our biggest victory was the 1973 Supreme Court decision on Roe v. Wade that paved the way for legalization of abortions. Upon his retirement in 1994, Supreme Court Justice Harry Blackmun, who wrote the majority decision, commented that it was necessary “for the emancipation of women.”

The Republican-dominated House has passed legislation that limits our access to clinics and hospitals that offer the procedure that will terminate a pregnancy.

For some of us, control over our bodies and our lives is slipping away as Republicans have also stripped funding from Planned Parenthood, an organization that provides assistance to millions of low-income women in areas such as pregnancy counseling, sexually-transmitted diseases, contraceptive information, and other issues of concern.

In lock step with these measures, Gov. Scott Walker has launched a direct attack on working women in his state by taking away the collective bargaining rights of unionized public employees. He has exempted three unions – the police, firefighters and state troopers – that have a primarily male membership. That leaves professions that are dominated by us women – home health care workers, licensed childcare providers, employees of University Hospitals and Clinics, nurses and teachers to face the possibility of even lower wages and the eventual demise of their unions.

These actions haven’t come out of the blue. The backlash began heating up during Ronald Reagan’s two terms. One need look no further then the writings in the seventies and eighties of conservatives like George Gilder. Long-standing opposition to Aid to Families With Dependent Children, aka welfare, was rooted in conservatives’ belief that women belonged in the home, taking care of husbands and children, family members with disabilities and aging parents. Welfare, they argued, tempted women to leave their husbands and live off the state.

In a figment from his overactive imagination, Ronald Reagan often spoke of those of us who received assistance as “welfare queens riding around in Cadillacs.” The right was able to chalk one up when Bill Clinton abolished “welfare as we know it” in 1996, pushing many of us deeper into the hole of poverty and hopelessness.

Reagan also blamed us for the 1981-82 recession that occurred during his first term in office. In his almost incoherent syntax, Reagan made his remarks at a White House session with editors and broadcasters (New York Times, 4/18/82), “Part of the unemployment is not as much recession as it is the great increase in the people going into the job market, and, ladies, I’m not picking on anyone, but because of the increase in women who are working today and two-worker families and so forth.”

Ironically, Reagan’s fiscal policies had the diametrically opposite affect on his desired social agenda. He figured that his “trickle-down” economic theory would allow him to slash social services since his tax cuts to the rich would create jobs through their investment in new businesses.

While the rich speculated with their money rather than starting new businesses, jobs – many of them good-paying union jobs – started being shipped overseas under Reagan. The stagnation of wages that had begun in the seventies persisted. In the end, Reagan’s policies served to increase the number of two-earner families!

The men who self-righteously proclaim that they support “family values” are selling snake oil. If we women cannot plan our pregnancies, have no one to care for our children while we work, have employment only at subsistence wages, then we and our families are in serious trouble. While some women will be forced back into the home, financially dependent on a partner, many more will have a tougher time of it as they and their partners struggle to work more than two jobs in order to keep the family afloat. The country’s new generation of women faces many obstacles in carving out for themselves secure and satisfying lives.

In reality, conservatives are striving to shore up the worldwide patriarchal system by doing their part to keep it alive and well here in the heartland of the empire.

Based on the subordination and exploitation of women, patriarchy across the globe is kept in place through legal codes, social mores, religious practices, political isolation and economic disadvantage, thereby empowering men and solidifying their dominant position vis á vis women.
