I predict the continued growth of atheism in America is going to make for some very interesting times. The putative leaders of the Christian Right in America have spent years trying to cast themselves as the victims in a secular society, the facts behind this assertion are kinda slim though. It’s been my experience and observation that the only way that secularism/atheism bothers religion is when it has to fight them (metaphorically) to keep religion where it belongs…out of people’s faces and out of our government.

Atheists are well-behaved and we seem to play well with others overall.

Atheists are not in the news, like the Christian right, for getting caught doing things they tell others not to do.  You know…those nasty little sexual things.  

Atheists almost always co-exist peacefully with religious believing family and friends.

Atheists pay taxes just like the religious believers do.

Atheists are waaay under represented in jails and prisons…we’re actually pretty moral people.

Atheists don’t start wars on behalf of atheism…unlike religion

They do join the military however, and contrary to clichéd belief, they are found in foxholes.

Atheists believe strongly in America and the whole American Constitution, but particularly the First Amendment that separates church and state.

Atheists are secularists who support a government free from influence by any religion. We are not anti-religious, we are Non-Religious.

Atheists don’t take up a lot of space. The non-religious/atheist/agnostic members of American society only add up to a little less than 18% of the whole population…but we are growing.  

Atheists make good neighbors. Chances are, if you live next door, or work with an atheist, you will  never know it.

Atheists in general, are much more supportive of women’s rights and for their right to control their own bodies and lives without church or state interference.

Unlike the religious right people, atheists don’t like to get into other peoples business and dictate how they should live….what they should do or not do.  You know…like who you should marry.

Atheists are not known for going door-to-door to convert people to our way of thinking. We are however, known to help our friends and neighbors with no thought of there being a heavenly reward in it for us.

Unlike many of the present Republican presidential candidates and the religious right in general Atheists do not advocate or align themselves with groups who want to take over our government and reshape America into a religiously ruled theocracy…you know, kinda’ like the Middle Eastern Islamic states.

Atheists, unlike the Republican Right, the Tea-Party, and the religious right, do not go around with guns in meetings and say the President will never take their guns away, or wishing the president would fail and generally disrespecting the President and the office.  Or call him ni_ger behind his back

Atheists mostly do know a lot about religion, as many were raised in a religious family, and they tend to research and know their positions really well.  In recent national polling about religious knowledge, atheists knew more than any religious sub-group.

Hmmm…could it be…could the atheists actually be better citizens and better people to know than theists???  I know I never disrespect, with malice, someone for believing the ‘wrong thing’…I just like to get into friendly arguments/debates with them.

The Republicans Are Out To Get YOU

That Republican ”scientist?” we all love to hate, Ms. Ann Coulter, has written a column wherein she says that the radiation the Japanese reactors are spewing out is good for the people over there. Read down to the comments section and then maybe go to P.Z.  Myers blog Pharyngula for his comments.

Democracy Killed in Michigan

If Gov. Rick Snyder (R) gets his way soon he will have the ability to unilaterally declare a “fiscal emergency.” Once such an emergency is declared he would then have the power to dissolve the entire municipal government of wherever this “emergency” exists, dismiss the elected officials with no replacement election to follow, seize control of local civil services and, last but certainly not least, cede control of taxpayer money, services and powers to private corporations.

So begins the scary story of the poor people of Michigan and their descent into Fascism courtesy of the Tea Party Republicans.

“ The governor simply has to declare a financial emergency to invoke these powers – or he can hire a private company to declare financial emergency and take over oversight of the city. That’s right, a private corporation can declare your city in a state of financial emergency and send in its Emergency Manager, fire your elected officials, and reap the benefits of the ensuing state contracts.”

I think the Republicans are trying to take over the country…very quietly, in a way that we should be very worried about.

Air Force Censors New York Times

Air Force users who try to view the websites of the New York Times, Britain’s Guardian, Spain’s El Pais, France’s Le Monde, or German magazine Der Spiegel instead get a page that says, “ACCESS DENIED. Internet Usage is Logged & Monitored,” according to a screen shot reviewed by The Wall Street Journal. The notice warns that anyone who accesses unauthorized sites from military computers could be punished.  Wall Street Journal

Untold Stories of the TSA Abuses of Power

In March of this year a developmentally delayed 4 year old boy who had to wear leg braces because his ankles were malformed and weak because of a premature birth, was on his way to Disney World for his birthday celebration.

The braces the boy has to wear are made of metal and hard plastic…of course this sets off the airport scanners in Philadelphia and the SS TSA screener said the boy had to take the braces off and he had to walk without them.

The boy’s father, Bob Thomas, a law enforcement officer with the Camden, NJ police says the family complied with the order but remained very upset and contacted Daniel Rubin, a columnist who has been reporting on mistreatment of travelers during TSA screenings

TSA spokeswoman Ann Davis told Rubin that the boy should not have been told to remove his braces.

“The boy should have been directed to a private screening area, where he could have been swabbed for traces of explosive materials,” Rubin is reporting.

How f**king stupid are these people anyway?  It seems every day or two the news is reporting a new incident where the TSA agent is apparently brain dead and unable to think on their feet…and it’s getting worse every day.

We can’t say anything to them or we’ll get arrested, and if you’re escorted away they do everything in their power to humiliate you in front of other passengers, and they’ll lie like there’s no tomorrow to save face when they are obviously in the wrong 90% of the time.

Their police powers need to be taken away from them as they are obviously not trained to handle the kind of power they have.  Video and audio files of each encounter need to be made as this will be a vital deterrent to the abuse the SS screeners would mete out to their victims. And they Really need to have more customer relations training.

Best thing to do though is not fly for awhile. Put off that trip to see relatives, or not take an Island vacation for a year or so and boycott all flights except those absolutely necessary…see what happens…I’ll bet TSA under pressure from the airlines will straighten up their act.

Government is the real problem …they set up these crappy agencies and give them powers that they should never have.  They beat you over the head and tell you that you do as directed or we’ll sh*t all over you and yours. No sense of diplomacy at all, but what do you expect from the SS?

Boycott Airport Full Body Scanners And Patdowns

So what kind of harassment do you  want from your government the next time you fly somewhere?  Do you want to add more damaging radiation ( your x-rays and some types of medical scanners add to your lifetime dosage of cancer causing radiation) to your body and the possibility that naked pictures of you will end up on the internet?  Or would you like a smiling total stranger feeling around and on your genitals while the world looks on.  How about the poor women who has been sexually exploited or raped…how is she supposed to deal with government sponsored genital invasion of her body?  How about the women who have had breast surgery and have to show security guards their breasts because full body scans show an anomaly?

How long are we sheeple going to keep bending over for the government and their illegal shenanigans?  I’ll bet we are going to see some “examples” made of a few people that protest too much to their TSA  inquisitors.

I’ve quit flying anywhere until they start profiling Arab looking people like Israel does and stop the insane security measures that put you between a rock and a hard place…Cancer, or a stranger feeling you up.

I wonder how long a boycott of all airline flights would take to change the attitude of the T.S.A. and the malevolent disrespect they show to anyone who questions their methods.  They are after all public servants and really need to change their tendency to shame and publicly  disgrace any questioner of their methods.  They act like evil SS troopers.

We Don’t Need No Stinkin’ Probable Cause

A law that’s been on American books (and in the Constitution) forever is now biting the dust because of Presidents Bush and Obama. Breaking his campaign promises to enhance civil liberties in relation to national security the Obama administration is continuing the screwing over the American Constitution that Bush started.

“The Obama administration is seeking to make it easier for the FBI to compel companies to turn over records of an individual’s Internet activity without a court order if agents deem the information relevant to a terrorism or intelligence investigation.

The administration wants to add just four words — “electronic communication transactional records” — to a list of items that the law says the FBI may demand without a judge’s approval. Government lawyers say this category of information includes the addresses to which an Internet user sends e-mail; the times and dates e-mail was sent and received; and possibly a user’s browser history. It does not include, the lawyers hasten to point out, the “content” of e-mail or other Internet communication.”  From the Washington Post.

The use of National Security Letters is equivalent to the old ‘Writs of Assistance’ the British used against us here in America in pre-revolutionary times

The NSL’s are the modern equivalent to general search warrants which are constitutionally forbidden.  Good luck on getting the administration to admit this.    The American government just keeps pushing the envelope regarding how much the citizens will put up with. I think the general feeling among top officials is that they can get away with pretty much anything…if they mention terrorism.

Kiss Your Butt (And Freedoms) Goodbye

Below is a link to the absolutely scariest documentary I have ever experienced. Its long (show off your attention span skills here), at 151 minutes, but it covers many subjects that will all heavily impinge on our life in mostly negative ways if we allow them to happen. I personally fear that its past the point where we can do anything about them…the government has too many guns with men trained to use them on their own people, and the constitutional constraints that could have stopped what they plan have been wiped away by the last three presidents and their Presidential Decrees.

Some of the material may seem old because they have been gone over before, but they will be recycled by their proponents.

Trust neither Democrats or Republicans or Tea-Baggers…they are essentially all on the same side; though most don’t realize it.
