Did our Universe Always exist?

Did matter always exist in the universe?

Did God always exist in the universe?

Was there ‘nothingness’ everywhere that was filled up with a sentient cloud of electrons or atoms? Or was there absolutely nothing there…but, somehow, something…was a God?

Were we, and our universe as we know it, purposely created to ‘glorify’ a cloud of sentient nothingness?

Are we even real? Could we be a dream that a cloud of nothingness is dreaming? Shades of Matrix 🙂

Why would a God set up a paradise, with a snake/Satan that he knew would cause Eve to “Sin”?

Why was Satan…the sinner…even around then, or allowed to be in the garden?

How was Satan even considered evil or sinful, when there was no evil or sin existing at the time?

Why was Satan even allowed to be around later in this fairy tale?

Why would an intelligent cloud of nothingness set up the trap for his creations (us), knowing what the outcome would be? Isn’t that kind of like leaving a very sharp butcher knife in front of your one-year-old kid?

Why would a God even create an evil being?

Why is God so directly involved with the killing of so many humans?

Who tempted Satan to sin…why…if there was no sin before what was the sin?

If there is no sin in heaven how did Satan sin? Do sins just pop-up, so to speak?

What happens if we get to heaven and, God forgive…have a sinful thought?

Since there is no visible heaven, will we be among the stars, on earth, another planet, or in our own imagination/minds?

Where exactly do you think hell is, and why would a ‘loving God’ want to burn and torture people in it for eternity?

Did you ever examine your belief that Santa Claus is not real, and why you think that way? It’s because of the evidence…right?

Do you Really believe that a ‘Universe Creating God’ would make up this little story of sin and redemption you claim we are all living?

Why do you still believe the Bible is the real inerrant word of a God, when you have been shown the many errors in it?

Jesus was, without a doubt, preaching of the second coming of the ‘Kingdom of God’ in the near future, and here we are two thousand years later, still falling for it. Why?

Evidence that believers cannot reach a consensus on the Bible (or the Koran for that matter) is found all over the Christian and Jewish communities. They disagree with each other…sometimes violently…over interpretations of their so-called Holy Script. That alone, is testament to the non-holy status of the Bible, and their sects founded on it. If the Bible and religion were true…the divisions would not even be there. The whole world would be under its sway.

Pick your favorite 3 questions for me to work at? 🙂

  2. thewordofme says:

🙂 pick whatever you like 🙂 Good to hear from you again.

  3. Justin says:

There’s method to the madness. I used to be in debate and one way to throw people out is to ask a ton of questions. Then the very fact that you pick one over the other can be pointed out and if it is adequately answered, the person would just move to the next question.

I’m glad to be back. Any preference in questions?

  4. thewordofme says:

Nope…I may be a little slower than usual to answer some as I have some business to do, but will reply as able.

  5. Justin says:

I’m going to try to ignore possible sarcasm in these questions and answer simply.

*Did matter always exist in the universe?
God began time. God created matter.

*Did God always exist in the universe?
No, God created time. God created the universe.

*Was there ‘nothingness’ everywhere that was filled up with a sentient cloud of electrons or atoms? Or was there absolutely nothing there…but, somehow, something…was a God?
There was God. Then he created.

*Were we, and our universe as we know it, purposely created to ‘glorify’ a cloud of sentient nothingness?
We were created to glorify God and enjoy Him forever.

*Are we even real? Could we be a dream that a cloud of nothingness is dreaming? Shades of Matrix 🙂
We are real. Interestingly, it is the Christian worldview which states that we are real and the laws of nature are unchanging that allow science to take place.

*Why would a God set up a paradise, with a snake/Satan that he knew would cause Eve to “Sin”? and Why was Satan…the sinner…even around then, or allowed to be in the garden?
God was not surprised. He allowed people to do what they did as part of His prearranged plan. God gets all the proper glory and credit in the end.

*How was Satan even considered evil or sinful, when there was no evil or sin existing at the time?
Satan began to think of Himself like God. That was wrong. Through Adam the curse of sin entered mankind who was made in the image of God.

*Why was Satan even allowed to be around later in this fairy tale?
Not a fairy tale. However, see above comment on prearranged plan.

*Why would an intelligent cloud of nothingness set up the trap for his creations (us), knowing what the outcome would be? Isn’t that kind of like leaving a very sharp butcher knife in front of your one-year-old kid?
Not an intelligent cloud of nothingness. He is the Creator. He is God. See comment on prearranged plan.

*Why would a God even create an evil being?
Does cold exist? It is the absence of heat. Does darkness exist? It is the absence of light. Does evil exist? It is the absence of God.

*Why is God so directly involved with the killing of so many humans?
I do not tell you what to do with your broken microwave. Please be respectful by not telling God how to initiate His justice against a rebellious creation.

*Who tempted Satan to sin…why…if there was no sin before what was the sin?
Humans did not sin because they were tempted by Satan. They did so because they chose to do so. You could say they were morally neutral unlike humans today who are inclined towards sin. I am speculating here as I have not done a study on it, but perhaps the angels were created morally neutral.

*If there is no sin in heaven how did Satan sin? Do sins just pop-up, so to speak?
You have an incorrect presupposition. Take that away before reading this next sentence. Satan chose to have a rebellious attitude and thus sinned.

*What happens if we get to heaven and, God forgive…have a sinful thought?
Christians are born again and given a new nature. When in Heaven, there will be no sin. How exactly will that work? There are multiple theories, but I don’t think that is specifically laid out in the Bible. God created the universe. He can handle it.

*Since there is no visible heaven, will we be among the stars, on earth, another planet, or in our own imagination/minds?
Your question has a presupposition. Take that away before reading this next sentence. From my understanding, Earth will be restored and Christians will have access to it and Heaven while the unredeemed will be in Hell.

*Where exactly do you think hell is, and why would a ‘loving God’ want to burn and torture people in it for eternity?
Hell is God’s place of justice. God is love. He loves life, therefore he hates murder, Love requires hate in a sense. God is loving and just, therefore Hell must exist. As it is just, it cannot be defined as torture.

*Did you ever examine your belief that Santa Claus is not real, and why you think that way? It’s because of the evidence…right?
    Yes

*Do you Really believe that a ‘Universe Creating God’ would make up this little story of sin and redemption you claim we are all living?
No, I do not believe God would make up the story. It is not little either.

*Why do you still believe the Bible is the real inerrant word of a God, when you have been shown the many errors in it?
Your question has a presupposition. Examined correctly, there are no errors in the Bible. Secondly, I know the perfect God so His Word cannot error.

*Jesus was, without a doubt, preaching of the second coming of the ‘Kingdom of God’ in the near future, and here we are two thousand years later, still falling for it. Why?
People redeemed are part of God’s Kingdom. Christ’s return is coming soon in God’s accounting of time. Be ready.

*Evidence that believers cannot reach a consensus on the Bible (or the Koran for that matter) is found all over the Christian and Jewish communities. They disagree with each other…sometimes violently…over interpretations of their so-called Holy Script. That alone, is testament to the non-holy status of the Bible, and their sects founded on it. If the Bible and religion were true…the divisions would not even be there. The whole world would be under its sway.
You presuppose that if God wrote it, everybody would agree. You’re simply wrong on this point.

yep the universe always existed. go on youtube and search “electric universe and the big bang” -matter cannot be created nor destroyed, hence eternal

  8. Justin says:

If the universe is eternal, wouldn’t the sun have run out of steam forever ago? If the universe is eternal, the 2nd law of thermodynamics would come in place and the universe would be in helpless disorder.

  9. thewordofme says:

Hi Justin, good to hear from you again. I hope school is going well for you.

“It is occasionally claimed that the second law is incompatible with autonomous self-organization, or even the coming into existence of complex systems. This is a common creationist argument against evolution.

The entry http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Self-organisation#Self-organization_vs._entropy, explains how this claim is a misconception. In fact, as hot systems cool down in accordance with the second law, it is not unusual for them to undergo spontaneous symmetry breaking, i.e. for structure to spontaneously appear as the temperature drops below a critical threshold.

Complex structures, such as Bénard cells, also spontaneously appear where there is a steady flow of energy from a high temperature input source to a low temperature external sink.”

“The Sun is about halfway through its main-sequence evolution, during which nuclear fusion reactions in its core fuse hydrogen into helium. Each second, more than 4 million tons of matter are converted into energy within the Sun’s core, producing neutrinos and solar radiation; at this rate, the Sun will have so far converted around 100 Earth-masses of matter into energy.

The Sun will spend a total of approximately 10 billion years as a main sequence star.”

  10. Josh says:

I think that Justin needs to interviewed by all mass media. He, apparently, KNOWS there is a God.

How obsurd a notion to claim that to know there is a God.

Justin, I don’t know and you don’t either!

  11. thewordofme says:

    Hi Josh, thanks for writing.

I think Justin is in training for being a minister. He doesn’t seem to be around anymore.

Like all other believers he just “feels” that God is real, he has no concrete evidence…no one does, as you know.

  12. Justin says:

Josh, of course I know there is a God – I know God personally. Even if I didn’t, I have several step by step evidences for Him. I even have a site called All About Atheism that shows this.

  13. thewordofme says:

Hello Justin, glad you stopped by.

    How is school going?
I hope all is well with you.

    twom

  14. Josh says:

    Justin,
I commend you for training to be a minister. However, the fact that people claim to “know” that there is a God is what took me away from religion completely.

There is very little, and not reliable, evidence that Jesus Christ even existed and as you know, no evidence of a God. Only “word of mouth”.

As you know, the Bible describes faith as “the substance of what is hoped for, the evidence of things not seen”. What evidence??? ” Hoped for” I can agree with. I hope that I will see my wife and daughter in an afterlife, but there is no logic in hope or even faith for that matter.

    Jesus loves you,
    Josh

  15. Justin says:

    thewordofme, thanks.

Josh, I know God exists just like I know my brother exists: I know him personally. There is evidence for his existence though to those who do not know him. Just check out the “Road to God” page at allaboutatheism.com

  16. Josh says:

    Justin,
Just so you know, I am not trying to disprove religion, Christianity, or the Bible. I am only applying logic to a rather complex situation.

Logic should tell us all that the above listed subjects sound very very silly.

I am not an atheist for they know something that we all don’t. Id est, there is no God! I am an agnostic, as are we all, and was very impressed with the post by thewordofme. Then saw your response to the post ad had to comment. Justin, with all due respect, I mast disagree with your response to the post. There is actually NO way that anyone can prove that there is a God. And yes, I have read your site about atheism.

    Josh

  17. David says:

You can’t prove God because no man has ever seen God. However, the complexity of life systems and nature speak to the fact that there is a God. There is no need to argue about this because those who believe in the existence of God do so by faith, and it is not ignorant neither foolish to have faith in God, just as it is not foolish nor ignorant to believe in many things we cannot prove until we have evidence.

Again, let’s not argue about whether God exists or not. It will be proven very soon. Those who have believed foolishly will have lost nothing, but those who have denied and rejected will have lost everything. To the author of this post blessings to you and may we all grow to understand the origins and purpose of life. By the way, God did not create the devil, He created Lucifer, who because of his own rebellion became the devil, according to Isaiah 14 and Ezekiel 28.

  18. the word of me says:

Well religious folks have been trying to prove the existence of God for over 2,000 years. They are no closer to coming up with evidence now then they were 2,000 years ago…I think that says something.

Thousands of things that in the past were thought of as Gods handiwork have been proven to be natural…It has not once gone in the other direction.

Gods existence will not be proven very soon…or at all. Since God is a bronze age mythical creation dreamed up by goat herders He/She/It will not, can not, be proven true.

    • benrye says:

Not true! Evolution states that all planets should stay in exact orbit and rotate. Uranus does not, it tips on it’s side. And for atheism to be true, something had to allways exist. Which cant be done. It doesnt apply to an “all power being” such as God.

      • the word of me says:

Hello Benrye, thank you for writing.

Evolution says absolutely nothing about Uranus or any other planet in our solar system. The mechanics of whats going on were worked out a hundred years ago. That is a non-argument.

Standard answer that just about all children start asking at about age 8…where did God come from? You can’t have it both ways. “God always was” is not logical, just as “the universe always was” is not logical. We don’t have the answer yet, but it will come.

You must remember that ever since the Bible was written people have questioned it. It seemed for awhile (up until the 1700’s maybe) that the Bible and religion was right. Then science finally broke free of the claws of religion…and boy did we learn some stuff. Since science started explanations that were given by the Bible it has been shown without a doubt that the Bible is wrong and science is right…it has NEVER gone the other way.

Also remember that the Old Testament was written by Iron Age goat herders. It is not a relevant story.

  19. benrye says:

It does not matter. People like Ruchard Dawkinjgs waste ther lives trying to disprove stuff like religion. You shouldnt care! Just choose what you wanna beleive and go the crap on!!! THANK YOU!!!! : )

    • the word of me says:

      Hello again Benrye,

Richard Dawkins is not wasting his life…to the contrary it is people who believe in some fairy tale “God who always was” that waste their life and resources on an imaginary thing that CANNOT be proven. He is simply trying to wake people up and show how evil religion is.

As for me, I am semi-retired and have plenty of time to write and argue with Christians (and the occasional Muslim) that what they believe is totally wrong and it gets proven more and more as time goes on.

Religion is evil, and if humanity is not careful that religion will pull the whole human race down to cave-man status again.
