Is Prayer EVER Answered ??

Matthew 7:7-8
Ask, and it will be given you; seek, and you will find; knock, and it will be opened to you. For every one who asks receives, and he who seeks finds, and to him who knocks it will be opened.

Are there believers among us that have found this to be true?  Can any Christian say for a fact that they have prayed for something and it has been given to them? The Bible says unequivocally that all prayers of the faithful will be answered.  However many studies have been made into the truthfulness of this belief and they have all shown that prayer is not answered.

We hear from time to time that so and so was cured of cancer because of prayer, or that someone miraculously survived a storm that killed many many people around them.  Do you believe that these stories are a real indication that God is answering prayers?  Or could it possibly be a case of coincidence?  Again studies have been done  and there is no indication at all that these were anything but chance.

Matthew 17:20
For truly, I say to you, if you have faith as a grain of mustard seed, you will say to this mountain, ‘Move from here to there,’ and it will move; and nothing will be impossible to you.

Has God ever reached down from heaven and cured a child of Down’s syndrome? Has anybody actually prayed for a mountain to move… or for God to let their quadriplegic son or daughter walk again?  I don’t know about the mountain, but you can bet your ass that many thousands of prayers have gone to God about paralyzed sons and daughters, or Husbands and Wifes even.   I don’t think the mountains moved and I don’t think any people were able to walk again purely by prayer.

Now of course, there is talk of using human stem cells to repair broken brain stems in these poor people and allow the paraplegics and quadriplegics to walk again. You will notice that it is man/woman that is doing the work here. Humans have heard of the dreams and prayers and are working hard to fulfill them…and it looks possible now.

Matthew 21:21-22
I tell you the truth, if you have faith and do not doubt, not only can you do what was done to the fig tree, but also you can say to this mountain, ‘Go, throw yourself into the sea,’ and it will be done. If you believe, you will receive whatever you ask for in prayer.

Does God ever answer prayers that call for breaking the laws of nature, or clearly impossible except by supernatural means? Does God answer prayers that break the laws of probability?  How many people have prayed to win the lottery or the poker pot?  God does not answer prayers to avert natural disasters; just ask hurricane Katrina survivors.  It is statistically proven that God does not answer medical prayers.  So if our only experience with prayer is that God never answers prayers that we know to be impossible, He only answers those prayers that could be answered or made right by natural causes…what can be deduced by that?

Mark 11:24
Therefore I tell you, whatever you ask for in prayer, believe that you have received it, and it will be yours.

As one famous websites says; God never ever heals amputees.  Literally millions of people have had amputations caused by wars, auto accidents and such. God has never answered any of the prayers of these poor people to return them to wholeness…not once in all of recorded history.

John chapter 14: 12 -14
“Truly, truly, I say to you, he who believes in me will also do the works that I do; and greater works than these will he do, because I go to the Father. Whatever you ask in my name, I will do it, that the Father may be glorified in the Son; if you ask anything in my name, I will do it.

Matthew 18:19
Again I say to you, if two of you agree on earth about anything they ask, it will be done for them by my Father in        heaven. For where two or three are gathered in my name, there am I in the midst of them.

So what is a faithful Christian to do?  There is all of this scripture that says outright that God/Jesus can be expected to answer prayer.  The words are not equivocal, there is no wishy-washy dialogues…ask and it will be done.  So for two thousand years people of faith have been asking, through prayer, for some help from their God in this life we all lead. A lightening of the load we all have to carry, a beam of light in the darkness, kind words from our Diety to pass us through hard times, help our children and our neighbors, help our country.

Truthfully now…have these prayers ever been answered?
Or have there been coincidences?

I LIVE BY FAITH AND PRAYERS EVERY DAY IT DIDNT SAY HE WOULD ANSWER YOUR PRAYERS RIGHT NOW. IT MAY TAKE A FEW DAYS OR WEEKS OR A YEAR . TRUTHFULLY NOW THINK ABOUT IT . THINK ABOUT WHAT YOU PRAYED TO HIM FOR WAS IT TO HEAL YOU OR A FAMILY MEMBER ,A CHILD OR WAS IT FOR SOMETHING ELSE . PRAYER TAKES TIME AND IF GOD THINKS YOU CAN WORK IT OUT ON YOUR OWN THEN HE WILL WAIT. NEVER EVER GIVE UP ON PRAYERS.

    Hi gagesnannie, thanks for writing.

WHY ARE YOU SCREAMING??? All caps looks like screaming when you write.

I am not talking about prayers that I have initiated. The general consensus is that no prayers have ever worked in all of man’s history on earth.

Any prayers that seem to have been answered is just coincidence and a statistical anomaly.

Any prayer that truly needs a supernatural answer has NEVER come true. Like in the post…there has never been an answered prayer to regrow a amputated arm or leg, or to cure a child of Downs syndrome.
