Monsanto GMO products corn may cause organ failure

From the International Journal of Biological Sciences,
“Effects were mostly concentrated in kidney and liver function, the two major diet detoxification organs, but in detail differed with each GM type. In addition, some effects on heart, adrenal, spleen and blood cells were also frequently noted. As there normally exists sex differences in liver and kidney metabolism, the highly statistically significant disturbances in the function of these organs, seen between male and female rats, cannot be dismissed as biologically insignificant as has been proposed by others. We therefore conclude that our data strongly suggests that these GM maize varieties induce a state of hepatorenal toxicity….These substances have never before been an integral part of the human or animal diet and therefore their health consequences for those who consume them, especially over long time periods are currently unknown.”

Monsanto did a whole 90 day study and declared it safe for human consumption.  Aren’t we Americans truly blessed by corporate responsibility in our country???

I see the “Religion of Peace”…Islam, has given a gift of murder and mayhem to Nigerian Christians this year.

Catholic Pedophiles On The Lose Again

BBC news Europe is reporting on another Catholic scandal.  I think we can now safely assume that the Catholic Church employees are molesting young children all over the world.  And probably ever since the church was formed well over a thousand years ago

If you’re Catholic don’t let your children out of your sight while in your church. You might want to consider leaving the Catholic Church altogether.  They are definitely not the Holy Place you thought they were.

“The report estimates that 10,000-20,000 minors were abused in the care of Catholic institutions between 1945 and 1981, when the number of Church-run homes dropped. In the years between 1981 and 2011, several more thousands suffered at the hands of priests and others working for the Church.”

That’s an amazing number of children abused.  I guess up there near the Arctic Circle they don’t have much else to do.

And, once again it was not the church revealing the culprits…it was an independent commission investigating complaints against the church.

Republicans Screw Over America Again

The Republicans and those people they hold sway over just really don’t get it.  They are determined to kill as many people and mess up as much pristine real estate as they can to advance the fortunes of greedy corporate rats.

“The House Republican assault on the environment has been reckless and relentless,” said Rep. Waxman.  “In bill after bill, for one industry after another, the House has been voting to roll back environmental laws and endanger public health.  The Republican anti-environment agenda is completely out-of-touch with what the American public wants.”

“House Republicans didn’t wait until Christmas to hand out gifts to polluting industries.  They’ve been doing it all year long, amassing the worst environmental record of any Congress in history,” said Rep. Markey. “These votes are just a preview of coming attractions if the fossil fuel industries get their way and place more Republicans in Congress and the White House.  With that kind of cast, anti-environmental blockbusters will be the norm, sending more mercury into our kids, more air pollution into our lungs, and more carbon pollution into our atmosphere.”  Here

Christopher Hitchens…

He was a hero of mine…I tried to emulate his wit, his intelligence, his brilliant writing, and his composure under fire.  Of course I failed, I doubt that anyone can come close to the multiple talents the man possessed.

The man could see over the horizon and visualize the past and future as one long line of human triumphs and follies.  He fought his personal battle with his immanent death with courage and unfailing determination, and in my eyes died a hero.

I mourn his passing.
