TEOTWAWKI…Again

I found another loonie Christian “Prophet” who is predicting TEOTWAWKI.  This time it’s going to be pretty soon…May 27th, 2012

You have a little more than a month to put your affairs in order.  You’ve been warned 🙂

PR text for the book he has written to advance his “prediction”

“The year 2008 marked the last of God’s warnings to mankind and the beginning in a countdown of the final three and one-half years of man’s self-rule that will end by May 27, 2012.

On December 14, 2008, the First Trumpet of the Seventh Seal of the Book of Revelation sounded, which announced the beginning collapse of the economy of the United States and great destruction that will follow. The next three trumpets will result in the total collapse of the United States, and once the Fifth Trumpet sounds the world will be thrust into WW III.”

I’ve marked that date on my calender.

Chaos And The Rapture May 21st.

Well, its around 8:00 pm Friday night and I’m ensconced in my air-tight, water-tight bunker, checking on my survival supples and firearms, with the radios tuned to the emergency channels. I’m fully prepared for the coming rapture tomorrow May, 21st., 2011 I suspect that the visions of a few million people floating up to heaven will totally freak out most people who witness it from the ground (knowing that they aren’t going to heaven) and they will go berserk and chaos will prevail…thus beginning the end of civilization as we know it.

🙂 Just kidding; I’m actually relaxing with a tall cold one in my favorite chair and contemplating tomorrow and all the cacophonous and raucous laughter that I will direct at the people who believe this kind of Sh*t. With all that has been disproven about religion there are still idiots that think there is a God looking down on us with disapproval, and chomping at the bit to start the killing. Is it just Christians, or are other religious sects aching for the end of life on earth…I sure hope not

You know, if you are an atheist you don’t have to bother with this kind of crap. 🙂

He says…”Starting in the Pacific Rim at around the 6 p.m. local time hour, in each time zone, there will be a great earthquake, such as has never been in the history of the Earth,” Party starts at 7:00 pm

UPDATE: It’s past 6pm Saturday in some parts of the world now and there have been NO reports of gigantic earthquakes anywhere on earth

The Rapture on May 21st.

Have you kind people been preparing for the Rapture?  Have you told all your relatives and friends to not fly or take a road trip on this coming Saturday, May 21st.?  Have you made arrangements for some pagan to come and care for your pet dog or cat or whatever?

I’ve been trying to get some rapture believers to sign over the deeds on their houses and any prime real estate they own, but have been so far unable to persuade them that they should.  I suspect/think they really don’t believe the rapture will happen. Imagine that…doubting their own prophecies.

So far I have put up new sandbags around the old bomb shelter, restocked 50cal. Ammo for the machine guns, laid in a year’s worth of food and water and first aid supplies, finally picked up that short wave radio and put in the burglar alarm system I have been procrastinating about.  The neighbors are looking at me kind of funny lately…I don’t know why.  NOT  🙂

I hear that there are thousands of “Rapture Parties” planned all across America…personally I think this is the appropriate response to this really stupid display of how ignorant much of the American Christian community is.  Men and women of the Christian persuasion have been predicting the “end times” for 2000 years now and all of us pagans get to laugh at them when the date just flies by with not a burp or bump to signify anything.  Hell, even Jesus himself predicted the end of the world in his own time…just shows you how much that supposed Man/God knows.

Well if you look at the Christian record of things they have been pretty bad prognosticators about much of what they believe in.  They can’t seem to come up with any real evidence to back up most their claims about God and Jesus and end times. They revere a 1700 year old book like it is the be all and end all of human existence…totally ignoring what we have learned in those 1700 years as humans.

One of the Christians champion debaters (W.L. Craig) has recently said it is alright to kill children if “God tells you too.”  They believe that it’s O.K. to kill people for things the Bible rails against such as: disrespect to parents, mixing crops in a field, mixing two different fabrics together,  adultery, homosexuality, masturbation…hell,  just about anything to do with sex, except married couples in a missionary position.

The believers are hoping that come May 21st. they will be looking down from heaven at us poor souls and laughing their heads off…I suspect I will be looking at those poor silly confused people…laughing MY head off come that day

Concerned Women Against American Democracy

Beverly LaHaye, wife of evangelical Christian minister and writer Tim LaHaye, and her group of Concerned Women for America, has said:

“Christian values should dominate our government. The test of those values is the Bible. Politicians who do not use the Bible to guide their public and private lives do not belong in office.”

You should note that using the Bible as a guide would automatically exclude anyone, other than Christian believers, from access to equal representation in America.

Somehow this sounds a little un-American, but I have come to expect this from Christian’s. Just like Muslims, they want everyone to convert to their beliefs and will lock out and demonize any who believe otherwise.

I keep hearing some crap about Atheists having no respect for religion and always being on the attack against Christians…I think I understand now…they are simply trying to uphold American values and keep the American government free and with equal treatment for those who fall outside the norm of White Anglo Saxon Protestant Christians.

Remember whenever you hear or read anything about atheists speaking up, they are just exercising their right to disagree, and the Christians are about 10 times more vocal, in-your-face, and much much scarier when you understand what they want for yours and my country.

Remember, both Christianity and Islam want to totally rule your life, tell you what to do, how to act, and who to sleep with.  And they WILL get into your bedroom and rule your body if given half a chance.

Christian Rats in a Maze

“Under theism, we are nothing more than rats in a maze, running out our prearranged lives through arbitrary predetermined scenarios to a foreordained conclusion, never actually making any progress or accomplishing anything except satisfying the unknowable whim of the experimenter. I say this view of reality is both false and depressing. We can do better. We can tear down the walls of the maze and set our own course, throw the puzzles aside and find out the real reasons for things. We are awake, alive and free right here, right now, and we have lives to live and the whole wide universe to explore. Who needs a god?”  Ebon Musings

***

Think about this you theists out there.  The Christian religion has it all figured out…there is no deviations allowed in the melodramatic script.  God planned all of this from the beginning and we figured it out from the beginning…we are predestined to follow the plot set up by God–our future is predetermined by God… Do you see the contradiction here?  So much for the free-will all the Christian apologists talk about.

I think all the Christians are just conned into their belief.  The writers of the Bible and all the writers that have pushed the silly stories on us are just part of the con.  They know it’s false and they have no proofs–at all—so they say you must have faith and the reason God doesn’t show himself is that would take away our free-will and ability to make a free choice—excuse me but that is bull-shit.  If the story is true, we have no free-will.

This whole religion, just like all others, stinks to high heaven. Its stories of God and the world are no more believable than those of Zeus, Brahma, Allah (whoops, that’s the same as the Christian God) Enlil, Horus, Isis, Juno, or any of the other hundreds and hundreds out there.  Even the Hebrews have a history of believing in other gods before they settled on JHWH about 590+- BC

Proof of this…the insane number of different ways to believe in this god.  There are over a thousand different sects—all claiming that only they have the keys to heaven—only they know what God wants us to do.  What hubris is this?

I’m going to be presumptuous here and show a little hubris also and say that if there really was a god…everybody would know it without a doubt…there would not be any argument about who has the “true” religion.  There would not be over a thousand different denominations fighting for dominance.  There never would have been those religious wars down through the ages wherein millions of innocent humans were killed in the name of “God.”  There would be no war between Muslims and Christians.

The Christians profess to believe in the ways of Jesus, but his message has been totally corrupted by all who followed him.  If Jesus (remember-He was also supposed to be God) was real, do you think his message would only be interpreted one way…or thousands?

The Theory of Everything

I wonder if those creationists who keep trying to get local school boards to treat the Theory of Evolution as “just a theory” and require equal time for Christian dogma disguised as “scientific creationism” or “Intelligent Design” also want to teach alternate “theories” of atomic theory, cell theory germ theory, theory of relativity, Asymptotic theory, Catastrophe theory, Chaos theory, Coding theory, Deformation theory, Dimension theory, Field theory, Game theory, Graph theory, Group theory, gravitation theory, Homology theory, Homotopy theory, K-theory, Knot theory, L-theory, Lie theory, Matrix theory, Model theory, Morse theory, Music theory, Number theory, Obstruction theory, Perturbation theory, Potential theory, Probability theory, Ring theory, Set theory, Shape theory, Spectral theory, Stability theory, String theory, Stable theory, etc., etc..

Surely the theory of evolution is not the only one that needs sanctification and certification by the Christian right’s Mutawa’een.

The Christian right wants to assure their cultural reproduction and defend and disseminate their beliefs and lifestyle, and they realize that the teaching of evolution and having their children learn the truths of science can neutralize their efforts.  They either welcome a theological control of life on earth, or they can’t, or don’t want to, think things through.

There is prodigious effort and money behind the religious right, and they are continually plotting the demise of democracy and secularism. They are evil.

Quote of the day

“We are always making God our accomplice so that we may legalize our own inequities. Every successful massacre is consecrated by a Te Deum, and the clergy have never been wanting in benedictions for any victorious enormity.” Henri Frédéric Amiel

Personal Experience With Jesus

Quote of the day

A Christian may tell you, “I had/have a personal experience with Jesus, so I know he is real.”  However if we apply this same logic to Muslim’s, millions of them will tell you they have had a personal experience with Allah; Does this mean that both Allah AND God are real, OR the same entity?  Digging deeper we find that millions of people have had personal experiences with ghosts and talking with dead relatives…does this mean that ghosts are real?  Hundreds of thousands or millions of people say they have seen UFO’s, and many say they have been abducted by aliens and experimented on or whisked away to a foreign planet.

Should we view all these cases as fake or real…or just the Jesus ones?  Who, or how, can anyone tell the truth of these claims?

Personal experiences with invisible “beings” are not a real good source of truth, and I believe every Christian knows this…except when we’re talking about his own religion.  –Anonymous

We Shall Abolish The Orgasm

Quote of the day

“We shall abolish the orgasm. Our neurologists are at work upon it now. There will be no loyalty, except loyalty towards the Party. There will be no love, except the love of Big Brother. There will be no laughter, except the laugh of triumph over a defeated enemy. There will be no art, no literature, no science. When we are omnipotent there will be no need of science. There will be no distinction between beauty and ugliness. There will be no curiosity, no enjoyment of the process of life. All competing pleasures will be destroyed. But always—do not forget this Winston—always there will be the intoxication of power, constantly increasing and constantly growing subtler. Always, at every moment, there will be the thrill of victory, the sensation of trampling on an enemy who is helpless. If you want a picture of the future, imagine a boot stamping on a human face—forever.”  George Orwell

No orgasms, no loyalty, no love, no laughter, no art, no literature, no science.  Sounds like a religious nut jobs wet-dream. Pat Robertson and crew would be behind this 100%.  Pat of course is a Dominionist (Sarah Palin is one also I hear), whose goal is either a nation governed by conservative Christians, or a nation governed by a conservative Christian understanding of Biblical law…primarily the Old Testaments first 5 chapters—the Pentateuch.

“In his 1992 study of Dominion Theology and its influence on the Christian Right, Bruce Barron PhD, writes,

“In the context of American evangelical efforts to penetrate and transform public life, the distinguishing mark of a dominionist is a commitment to defining and carrying out an approach to building society that is self-consciously defined as exclusively Christian, and dependent specifically on the work of Christians, rather than based on a broader consensus.

According to sociologist Sara Diamond, the defining concept of dominionism is “that Christians alone are Biblically mandated to occupy all secular institutions until Christ returns”. In 1989, Diamond declared that this concept “has become the central unifying ideology for the Christian Right.”  In 1995, she called it “prevalent on the Christian Right”. Journalist Chip Berlet added in 1998 that, although they represent different theological and political ideas, dominionists assert a Christian duty to take “control of a sinful secular society.”
Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Dominionism

They got their wish in 2000 (as they predicted) in electing ol’ GWB.  Of course there is still that controversy over his actually being “voted” in.  From that point the religious right had control of the Republican Party.  Its members are overwhelmingly evangelical fundamentalists.  The “teabagger movement” (who are totally controlled by outsiders) is really pissed that a black-man, who they deem an Islamic Fifth Columnist,  has control of “their America”…and he was actually “voted” in…How dare those lefty liberals.

The 2012 election cycle is going to be pretty exciting.  Keep an eye out for all those Republicans who might enter the primaries.  Really scary religious fundamentalists are waiting for their chance to take over.

Wall of Separation Between Church and State.”

Michael Zimmerman has an article in the Huffington Post called The Danger of Ignoring Creationism. In it he says: “…The Discovery Institute is little more than a shill for the billionaire Howard Ahmanson.  And Mr. Zimmerman quotes Ahmanson as saying, “My goal is the total integration of biblical law into our lives.”

Well that should be an interesting situation.  That means we will have to go out and kill homosexuals and stone to death anyone who commits adultery.  Women who give birth to boys will have to be put away for 30 days, and if they give birth to girls they will have to go away for 60 days. Women on their period will have to be confined to quarters for 7 days.  We won’t be allowed to eat Pork anymore…God, I’ll miss bacon.

Just think of all the people who will go to prison for blasphemy, and heresy will of course mean burning at the stake, as will witchcraft and demonry…is that even a word? 🙂  Now if Mr. Ahmanson is a real fundamentalist (sure sounds like he is) we won’t be allowed to dance or drink or use lipstick or dress up with jewelry. Any music more advanced than Laurence Welk would be outlawed, and you might as well forget Mohawk and Mullet haircuts (no loss there).

Do we reeaalllly want people who think like this to have any power at all over us?  I don’t think so, but the religious right is totally behind this kind of power grab…you know those fundagelicals and all those ‘Raptured’ people and followers of the 700 clubs Pat Robertson and his fellow Millenarianists. They actively want the Christian bible to be “The Law” and everyone to submit to what they believe in…with no exceptions. See blasphemy and heresy above.

We’re not talking Sunday School teachers taking over…we’re talking hard line Dark Ages Inquisition and burn at the stake fanatics…these people are truly scary.  They lie and cheat and scheme and talk a good game, but deep down they are evil.

Late thought:  Can you imagine the Inquisition in today’s world of electronics and computers and miniature video cameras?  A shiver just went down my spine.

The quote of the day below takes on serious meaning when confronted by people like Howard Ahmanson and Pat Robertson and crew.

Quote of the day

“Believing with you that religion is a matter which lies solely between man and his God, that he owes account to none other for his faith or his worship, that the legislative powers of government reach actions only, and not opinions, I contemplate with sovereign reverence that act of the whole American people which declared that their legislature should ‘make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof,’ thus building a wall of separation between church and State.”

Misc. Bible Related Stuff

From Time Magazine
“…On the other hand, say many scholars, much of what is recorded in the Bible is at best distorted, and some characters and events are probably totally fictional. Most scholars suspect that Abraham, Isaac and Jacob, Judaism’s traditional founders, never existed; many doubt the tales of slavery in Egypt and the Exodus; and relatively few modern historians believe in Joshua’s conquest of Jericho and the rest of the Promised Land. In the most extreme view, all of the above are complete fabrications, invented centuries after the supposed fact.”

And:
“John Van Seters of the University of North Carolina, Chapel Hill, summed up many of their commonly held positions. The oldest books of the Old Testament, he declared with Pope-like confidence, weren’t written until the Israelites were in exile in Babylon, after 587 B.C. There was no Moses, no crossing of the sea, and no revelation on Mount Sinai.”

And:
“The Bible’s accounts of these people and events are among the most familiar stories in the Old Testament. But even scholars who believe they really happened admit that there’s no proof whatsoever that the Exodus took place. No record of this monumental event appears in Egyptian chronicles of the time, and Israeli archaeologists combing the Sinai during intense searches from 1967 to 1982 — years when Israel occupied the peninsula — didn’t find a single piece of evidence backing the Israelites’ supposed 40-year sojourn in the desert.”

And:
“…considering that artifacts from as far back as the late Stone Age have turned up in the Sinai , it is perplexing that no evidence of the Israelites’ passage has been found. William Dever, a University of Arizona archaeologist, flatly calls Moses a mythical figure. Some scholars even insist the story was a political fabrication, invented to unite the disparate tribes living in Canaan through a falsified heroic past.”

Read the whole story: http://www.time.com/time/magazine/article/0,9171,983854-1,00.html

“It would be impossible…to argue that the Bible is a unified whole, inerrant in all its parts, inspired by God in every way. It can’t be that. There are too many divergences, discrepancies, contradictions; too many alternative ways of looking at the same issue, alternatives that often are at odds with one another. The Bible is not a unity, it is a massive plurality. God did not write the Bible, people did.”   Jesus Interrupted (p. 279). Bart Ehrman, the James A. Gray Distinguished Professor and Chair of the Department of Religious Studies at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill.
