“Silicon Valley, the politically liberal technology hub is an unlikely incubator of conservative Christian activism.

But a group of its venture capitalists is backing an ambitious project that seeks to affect the 2012 election by registering 5 million new conservative Christians to vote.

The nonprofit organization ‘United in Purpose’ is using sophisticated data-mining techniques to compile a database of every unregistered born-again and evangelical Christian and conservative Catholic in the country.

Through partnerships with Christian organizers and antiabortion groups, United in Purpose hopes to recruit 100,000 “champions” to identify unregistered Christians and get them to the polls as part of its Champion the Vote project. Profiles drawn from its database, which numbers more than 120 million people, will enable organizers to target potential voters with emails and Web videos tailored to their interests.

Most of its financial supporters remain anonymous, but one of its main backers is technology entrepreneur Ken Eldred, a generous Republican donor. Its board includes Reid Rutherford, a Silicon Valley solar-energy plant developer.

“Our goal is to raise up a body of believers and that they elect a lot of godly leaders,” said Bill Dallas, chief executive of United in Purpose.”   From the LA Times Here  My emphasis.

Well that’s kinda’ scary…a group of some of the richest people on the planet are going to enable millions of heretofore unregistered religiously conservative (read evangelical fundamentalists) people to vote…but only for GODLY candidates.  This in combination with the religiously controlled Republican Party candidates will mean hard times for Democrats and Obama supporters next year.

Now I am truly not advocating for a godless country (well, maybe that) and/or the suppression of political advocacy for a chosen candidate.  That would be UN-American and devious.  What I would advocate is that we make our best effort to expose what is going on here.  This is an attempt to take over a Democratic Republic by religious thugs…and make no mistake, we are talking about thugs here.  The stated goal of the leadership is to take over America in the name of the Christian Religion and rule as if we were living in Old Testament times.

That sounds to me like the scenario for Margaret Atwood’s book, The Handmaid’s Tale.  I don’t know about you, but I don’t want to live in a world where my sex-life is under control of the government, or if a women, my reproduction rights were controlled by religious zealots, a world where women are once again reduced in status, homosexuals were summarily executed by the state, and heresy and blasphemy were also capitol crimes.  You know…like the Dark Ages.  Leviticus 24:16 states that those who speak blasphemy “shall surely be put to death”. 

This country is inching closer and closer to a religious war.

Republican Right Wing Religionists At It Again

Some really strange and evil thinking going on in Washington these days…and it’s all coming from Republican legislators

“E Pluribus Unum has never been considered controversial. The motto, which is Latin for “out of many, one,” was adopted by the Founding Fathers in 1782 as part of the Great Seal of the United States, intended to represent the federal nature of the nation – out of many states, one country. The framers sharply disputed many issues in the formation of the nation, but E Pluribus Unum was not one of them.”

I admit I’ve never thought about the motto, I understand it and believe it fits our country perfectly, but I’d never much thought of it.

“Not so fast. The Religious Right, led by Rep. Michele Bachmann (R-Minnesota) and the Congressional Prayer Caucus (yes, our government actually has a Congressional Prayer Caucus), wants you to know that E Pluribus Unum is, well, almost un-American.” My emphasis.

“The CPC, a leading voice of religious conservatism on Capitol Hill, recently wrote a letter to President Barack Obama, chastising him for referring to the motto E Pluribus Unum. The letter may very well reflect a new milestone in the culture wars, for never before has E Pluribus Unum been portrayed as controversial. But according to the CPC, Obama’s reference to E Pluribus Unum amounts to an anti-God statement. See the letter here.”

So let me get this straight…the president mentioning the US motto E Pluribus Unum is somehow sacrilegious or blasphemy???  And to top all that they want the president to issue a corrected version

 “With all the credibility of public figures who believe the world is only six thousand years old, the caucus wants Obama to “issue a correction.” Apparently, referring to the E Pluribus Unum motto is now sacrilege in the Christian right’s America. They also say Obama isn’t mentioning God enough in his speeches and that he shouldn’t refer to “inalienable rights” without mentioning that they come from God.”

So now Republican legislators want to be able to control how the president thinks and presents ideas and policies.  It’s not enough that they have made a practice of opposing every damn thing the man says and tries to do…now they want control of his mind and speech.  They embarrass me and I feel they are destroying what little sanity still remains in political life in America.  They can’t come out and say the man is a N***er…that would be racist, so they publicly attack the man relentlessly (and call him names in small little social circles) and unfairly in any other way they can.  The Republicans are spoiled, child like, evil demons who aren’t getting their way and are having a hissy fit.  They are like our own little group of political terrorists.

I have never been so mad at politicians in my life…

There Are NO Moderate Muslims

Salman Taseer, the Pakistani governor of the Punjab province who was killed by one of his own bodyguards for being too liberal and wanting to reduce the penalty for blasphemy from death to a lesser sentence, apparently was considered too liberal by mainstream Muslims in the country.

“A group of more than 500 leading Muslim scholars, representing what the Associated Press describes as a “moderate school of Islam” and the British Guardian calls the “mainstream religious organizations” in Pakistan not only celebrated the murder, but warned that no Muslim should mourn Taseer’s murder or pray for him.

They even went so far as to warn government officials and journalists that the “supporter is as equally guilty as one who committed blasphemy,” and so therefore they should all take “a lesson from the exemplary death” of Salman Taseer.

If that’s what counts for religious moderation in Pakistan, I think it’s a little late to be talking about extremists hijacking the religion. The religion has long since been hijacked, and it’s now moving on to even bigger things.”  My emphasis

So now “moderate” Muslims, the ones who keep telling us that we shouldn’t judge Islam by what the “extremists” are doing are now backing the killing of those who want to “really” moderate Islamic craziness.

This just backs up what I have been feeling for a long time…there are NO moderate Muslims that just want to be left in peace to practice their religion. The majority wants pretty much what the “extremists” want; the expansion of Islam in all of its glory and insane excesses against human rights to everyone in the world, and woe is the person who gets in its way.

The people (after all they are the ones who actually make the religion come alive) of the Islamic religion are the most dangerous people on earth.  They are unrepentant killers, and squashers of human liberty and rights.  They will do anything necessary to disperse the Islamic virus to every person, in every corner of the earth.

Pakistan and Muslim Blasphemy Laws

The Muslims just can’t seem to enter modern day society.  Now in Pakistan, Islamist parties are trying to prevent the country from changing their blasphemy laws to a more moderate way of treating offenders.  As the law stands now a person accused of blasphemy is liable (likely) to be put to death.  The law has been used by Muslims to persecute religious minorities…especially Christians.

From the New York Times:
“In fiery speeches across all major cities and towns, religious leaders warned the government on Friday against altering the law, which carries a mandatory death sentence for anyone convicted of insulting Islam.”  My emphasis

So again…in yet another country…the Muslims are allowing the extremists in their midst to show the world just how insane the religion and its followers are.  This cannot be stated strong enough…the Muslim extremists are truly insane and cannot be trusted to live among the rest of humanity.  They are constantly plotting to kill normal people.  They believe all people on earth must follow a 7^th. century pedophiles vision of religion and his interpretation of  delusional dreams.

When the Muslim extremists commit their atrocities against humanity, the mainline Muslims come out and say we mustn’t judge their peaceful faith by the sins of a few, but they refuse to clean up their ranks.  The government, because it is controlled by extremist Islamists, do nothing to stop the evil obscenities their own brethren commit.  Mainline Muslims need to clean the nest of vipers from their midst, or face retaliation from worried normal people around the world.

God, Homosexuality…and Nazi’s?

This week, the Southern Poverty Law Center (SPLC) released a landmark report on anti-gay defamation. The SPLC certified several new hate groups, including well-known organizations, such as The Family Research Council (FRC) and The American Family Association (AFA).  Here: http://www.huffingtonpost.com/wayne-besen/hate-groups-waiting-in-th_b_787642.html

Now this article on the November 30^th Huffington Post, by author Wayne Besen, reports that last February the Family Research Council’s spokesman Peter Sprigg appearing on MSNBC’s, Hardball with Chris Matthews, and said that we should outlaw gay behavior.

He also reports that Brian Fischer, a spokesman for the American Family Association, said on their blog that, “homosexuality gave us Adolph Hitler, and homosexuals in the military gave us the Brown Shirts, the Nazi war machine and 6 million dead Jews.”

Now I thought that over the last 20 or 25 years we as a country, and a people, had grown up and passed the point where we were killing or throwing in jail those people who happened to be born or raised in such a manner that they were attracted to people of their own sex.  All the behavioral science seems to point to homosexual behavior as being a trait that people cannot control…in other words its ingrained in their psyche and there is really not much they can do about it.

When you realize that about 5 to 10 percent of the world’s population is homosexual you can see how many humans some of the religious groups are talking about putting to death or in prison…and that’s just unacceptable.  The fundagelicals in America keep denying the obvious truth (of this, and many, many other things) and keep insisting that homosexuality is a conscious choice…that heterosexual people just wake up one day and they are suddenly gay. Once again they are showing how retarded they and their religion is.

Do we really want to live in a world that is controlled by religious revelation?  Much of mankind actually went through this in the European Dark and Middle Ages and the results were not pretty.  Religion has shown over and over again that it is antithetical to intellectual freedom and a life affirming view of humanity if it is in control.  Although today’s Western Christianity is fairly tame and socially useful in our world, it is because secular forces and secular government keep it in its place.  It is not allowed to fully practice what it teaches…although many of today’s politicians are trying to get around this.

All of the religious folk who rail against homosexuality use the verses in Leviticus to show that “God” is dead set against the practice.  What they forget to include is that Leviticus and other parts of the Bible also says that mankind must not shave their beard, mix crops in a field, mix two fabrics together, eat shellfish, curse your mother or father, commit adultery, curse God (blaspheme), work on the Sabbath, they may buy, keep, and pass slaves on to your offspring, and many other things that called for the trespassers death, or at the very least cutting you off from your clan.

Most Christians now realize that these “Laws” from Leviticus are pretty silly and no longer consider most of them to be binding…even though Jesus said that he did not come to change the old “Laws,” but they hang on tenaciously to Leviticus 18:22 and 20:13  They basically want the homosexuals gone…dead as it were.

The quote from Brian Fischer of the American Family Association is just mind-bending.  I don’t even know what the man is talking about. Have you ever heard of anybody tying homosexuality or homosexuals in the military to being a cause of Hitler’s starting the second world war, killing 6 million Jews and being ultimately responsible for over 50 million deaths? This is brainless and evil thinking, and makes no real-world sense at all.

Evangelical fundamentalist (fundagelical) religion seems to be eating the brains of their poor followers…they can’t understand that the world, humanity, and science is leaving them behind…I don’t hold out much hope for them.

Blasphemy Laws Not Dead After All

Well the new Irish Blasphemy law is effect in Ireland now. Here’s what some think about the law.

“Whether a person is atheist or any other, there is in fact in my view something not totally human if they leave out the transcendent… we call it God… I think that if you leave that out you are not fully human.” Because atheism is not a religion, the Irish blasphemy law does not protect atheists from abusive and insulting statements about their fundamental beliefs. While atheists are not seeking such protection, we include the statement here to point out that it is discriminatory that this law does not hold all citizens equal.” Cardinal Cormac Murphy-O’Connor, 2009
Perhaps the atheists should incorporate as a religion and all the religious zealots would have to stop calling us “not fully human”…in Ireland anyway.

“May Allah curse the Jews and Christians for they built the places of worship at the graves of their prophets.” This quote was attributed to Muhammad on his death-bed as a warning to Muslims not to copy this practice of the Jews and Christians. It is one of several passages in the Koran and in Hadith that can give a scriptural foundation to Islamic anti-Semitism, including the assertion in Sura 5:60 that Allah cursed Jews and turned some of them into apes and swine. Muhammad, quoted in Hadith of Bukhari, Vol 1 Book 8 Hadith 427. And the Muslims just keep on lying as usual about their being a peaceful religion. Tell a big enough lie, long enough, and people start to believe it…well, stupid people will believe it.

Michael Martin, who is the Irish Minister for Foreign Affairs, opposing attempts by Islamic States to make defamation of religion a crime…at the United Nations level in 2009: “We believe that the concept of defamation of religion is not consistent with the promotion and protection of human rights. It can be used to justify arbitrary limitations on, or the denial of, freedom of expression. Indeed, Ireland considers that freedom of expression is a key and inherent element in the manifestation of freedom of thought and conscience and as such is complementary to freedom of religion or belief.”  Not much later the Blasphemy law was proposed in Ireland by one of Mr. Martin’s colleagues.  The Irish, Brits and Scots legislators have a long tradition of not listening to their common folk and passing BAAAAD laws.

This blasphemy law is for all intents and purposes aimed at protecting the Muslim religious adherents of Ireland from badmouthing from the largely Christian English components of the country. This is basically the same law that Muslim countries in the UN are trying to pass off on the whole world.  This is another sign of how evil the Muslim religion is.  From any other religion there would be a tremendous outcry if an attempt was made to pass off this evil plan on the world.

We are still at the beginning of Islamic attempts to openly conquer the Christians and Jews  and eventually any others who disagree with their religious dogma, and make-over the world in Muhammad’s vision. The first step was the Twin Towers  on 9-11 to electrify and wake up their people to the power they can wield by unconventional warfare. Now we are in the second phase…make it illegal to criticize them.  Kinda what Hitler did…passed laws making it illegal to criticize the party.

Religion Wants to Rule YOU

We have to confront the bad logic of Christian religion claims…with real science, and expose their claims for what they are…junk.

I have found over the years that I have been exploring todays ‘religious right’ that they have no regrets and will lie to anyone to try to advance their agenda. Although lying is generally condemned in the Bible, todays evangelical fundamentalist proselytizers, ministers, pastors, and church leaders are thinking that ‘whatever it takes’ is not a problem when you are faced with declining attendance, slim tithing, and mild cuss words on TV.

The religious right, perhaps best exemplified by Jerry Falwell Jr., Creation Research Institution, the Republican Party, Moral Majority, Christian Voice, Christian Coalition of America, Pat Robertson, Family Research Council, Joel Osteen, Discovery Institute, and many more.

I’m sure they have more planned; such as clamping down on same sex marriage, homosexuality in general, loose morals, Playboy magazine 🙂 (had to thrown that in) sexy dresses, mandatory attendance at church, no movies or TV that violates their sense of propriety and morals…PG all the time, how to properly raise your children, prayer (to A Christian God) in schools, teaching Intelligent Design and Creationism in all schools, teach only abstinence to young ones, preparation by all for the Second Coming and/or the Rapture, stop federal funding to all sciences that disprove their views of the Bible, get rid of ‘liberal’ judges, making and enforcing a ‘Blasphemy Law’, Support for religious institutions within government… Department of Homeland Religion…headed by Bishop Chertoff maybe :-), opposition to premarital sex, promiscuity, prostitution, sex trafficking, use of birth control or contraceptives, emergency contraceptive methods…Wow, when I started this list I couldn’t stop.

There are many more reasons to stop this evil plot…remember, “A brain is a terrible thing to waste”.

Believe me, religion is not all warm and fuzzy.
