Cost Of The War On Terrorism

A new report from Brown University has estimated that the US wars in Iraq and Afghanistan and the counterinsurgency in Pakistan will end up costing 4 TRILLION dollars and leave around 225,000 dead civilians and soldiers. In addition over half a million disability claims have been filed with the VA.  It is estimated that over 8 million people have been displaced in the war-torn countries.  Full story

One also has to add to the cost of the wars; parts of our constitution, of which I think the largest loss is the right to privacy.  We have also lost our sense of dignity when we fly anywhere.  The sixth amendment–right to a speedy trial is going, as is Habeas corpus–the right to go before a judge and be heard and hear the charges against you.  We keep edging closer to a dictatorial government…it creeps in slowly so we don’t notice so much.  It’s kind of scary to lose so much.

Do you think we will have to give up wars because they cost to much?  One can only hope.

Morality Probably Doesn’t Come From Bible

Is the Bible the source of morality?  Many people think not.

How can this book be an arbiter of morality when God advocates the killing of people for adultery, for disrespecting their parents, homosexuality, masturbation (or was that coitus interruptus), kidding old bald people…things we do not even consider crimes today.  How does this morality stand up to the fact that God directed the Hebrews to molest, kill, rape (save the young virgins though), destroy, and enslave people, to bash babies against a wall, to run a sword through the abdomen of pregnant women?  Whole tribes and cities…this is certainly Bronze Age human mentality at work…not a God.

There are countries around the world who don’t worship a Christian God and they have as much morality as anybody.  Thinking back over the disgraced Christian church leaders and ministers, priests, etc., in Christian lands–they may have even more morality…and they certainly didn’t get it from the Bible.

Some of the countries who are lowest in religious belief are some of the safest places on earth.

The Christian God himself (if he were real, which is debatable) has committed inexcusably horrible, and depraved acts… that God is an utterly immoral being.

Morality does not necessarily flow from the Christian Bible, it has many other sources.

Did you know?
In California now the police
can search your cell phone without a warrant if you are arrested.  However if you put the cell phone in your cars glove-box or trunk they need a warrant to get to it.  And, if you’re using an Apple iPhone of course that means your every movement for the last year is available to The Man.  This countries getting more and more like a communist state.  Seems the fourth amendment is going the way of first amendment freedom of speech.

Government Censorship, Free Speach, Bill of Rights

  • First AmendmentEstablishment clause, freedom of religion, speech, and press, and peaceable assembly as well as the right to petition the government.
  • Congress shall make no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof; or abridging the freedom of speech, or of the press; or the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances.

“Censorship is the suppression of ideas and information that certain persons—individuals, groups or government officials—find objectionable or dangerous. It is no more complicated than someone saying, “Don’t let anyone read this book, or buy that magazine, or view that film, because I object to it! ”
Censors try to use the power of the state to impose their view of what is truthful and appropriate, or offensive and objectionable, on everyone else. Censors pressure public institutions, like libraries, to suppress and remove from public access information they judge inappropriate or dangerous, so that no one else has the chance to read or view the material and make up their own minds about it.
The censor wants to prejudge materials for everyone.” From the American Library Association Website

Institutions and private business (Such as the American Library Association and local library’s, bookstores, Amazon, etc.) receiving National Security Letters (NSL’s) are forbidden to inform anyone about the search. Without a warrant they can research your records of checked out book’s from libraries, books, and magazines you purchase. These libraries and business who receive the NSL’s are forbidden to talk about it to anyone, let alone tell the suspect.

  • Fourth Amendment – Protection from unreasonable search and seizure.
  • The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

Upon the issue of a National Security Letter against a individual, government agents are allowed (Warrantless search) to enter their home on the sly, search the house, search all papers and download all contents of computers on the premises. They leave and the suspect is not notified that a search took place. They may search all records, public and private, wiretap and record phone calls about a person and forbid anyone who knows whats going on from talking to anyone about the search.

Illegal “Wiretaps”

Did you know that the Feds, NSA primarily, is tracking all internet traffic & email? Not just overseas and not just Muslims, but all of America.

Did you know that the Government, NSA primarily, is tracking all of America’s telephone traffic. Not just overseas and not just Muslims, but everyone.

If your emails or telephone conversations contain certain “trigger words” a live analyst will look over these emails or recorded conversations.

If you look at certain websites too many times, someone, some government bureaucrat is going to look at you, and not in a nice way.

Amendment IV
The right of the people to be secure in their persons, houses, papers, and effects, against unreasonable searches and seizures, shall not be violated, and no Warrants shall issue, but upon probable cause, supported by Oath or affirmation, and particularly describing the place to be searched, and the persons or things to be seized.

This amendment to our constitution is no longer is valid in our country, America.

May God help us all.
