If And When Those Preachers Get Control

Mark my word; if and when those preachers get control of the (Republican) party, and they’re sure trying to do so, it’s going to be a terrible damn problem.  Frankly those people frighten me.  Politics and governing demand compromise.  But these Christians believe they are acting in the name of God, so they can’t and won’t compromise.  I know. I’ve tried to deal with them.
……………..

Those who seek absolute power, even though they seek it to do what they regard as good, are simply demanding the right to enforce their own version of heaven on earth. And let me remind you, they are the very ones who always create the most hellish tyrannies. Absolute power does corrupt, and those who seek it must be suspect and must be opposed.

Republicans Are Trying To Abuse Women Again

The fight against domestic violence is getting a lot harder in New Hampshire.  The Republicans have introduced two bills in the state’s legislature that will prevent police from protecting domestic abuse victims.

This article from the Concord Monitor explains:
“Domestic violence is no longer taken lightly legally or by society. That’s the way it should be, but two bills under consideration by this most unusual of legislatures, would undo that progress and put lives in danger. Both deserve a speedy defeat.

House Bill 1581 would turn the clock back 40 years to an age when a police officer could not make an arrest in a domestic violence case without first getting a warrant unless he or she actually witnessed the crime. That’s an exceedingly dangerous change.

Consider the following scenario, one outlined for lawmakers by retired Henniker police Chief Tim Russell:

An officer is called to a home where she sees clear evidence that an assault has occurred. The furniture is overturned, the children are sobbing, and the face of the woman of the house is bruised and bleeding. It’s obvious who the assailant was, but the officer arrived after the assault occurred. It’s a small department, and no one else on the force is available to keep the peace until the officer finds a judge or justice of the peace to issue a warrant. The officer leaves and the abuser renews his attack with even more ferocity, punishing his victim for having called for help.

It’s impossible to say how many lives the policy, in place since the 1970s, has saved or how many injuries it’s prevented. If they adopt House Bill 1581, lawmakers might find out, but the price paid could be extraordinarily high.”

The other prospective bill, HB 1608 would limit a judge’s discretion to have a violator of a domestic violence restraining order arrested and would interfere with polices ability to stop the threat of domestic violence…and seriously eliminate restrictions to offenders in violence cases.

Now this fits in perfectly with the new Religious Republican agenda of stripping rights and protection of the law from the women in our ‘equal’ society.  They will stop at nothing to oppress and violate the sovereignty of our Moms, Daughters, granddaughters, and Sisters… bodies and souls.

This of course is driven by the evangelical fundamentalist leaders of the Republican Party in the US, and their desire to put the modern women back in her place as a homemaker and baby maker…barefoot and pregnant as it were.  It’s all about religion…at the expense of the human rights of all women.

The Religious Right and Republican Party is Out To Kill Women

The Republican Party is out to kill women and/or their reproductive rights

Look out for HR3…a bill just passed by the house that is the most evil piece of legislation ever to exist since our country was created by those looking for liberty from religious control.

“…the bill will force all insurance companies in the country to drop abortion coverage.”  No Abortion for any reason…even if the life of the mother is in jeopardy, or the result of rape or incest.

This is the Republican Party and Christian religious rights agenda at its most evil…that agenda is to deny women any control over their own bodies.  They are taking on the role of the Big-Brother overseer of all women in this country…in sexual matters they will control women and you had better stay out of their way and off their radar or they will kill or destroy you.  This is tantamount to the creation of a “Religious Police” as found in Muslim controlled countries.

I have  made a promise to myself tonight.  I will do everything in my power and to my ability to work to kick out every Republican legislator from office…this is the most evil, immoral, vicious, malevolent, malignant, perverse, ugly, piece-of-shit law EVER to be proposed. It is a slap in the face not only to women, but anyone who values freedom.

“…they are opening a door to denying you the deductions and credits you take if you do things with your own money they don’t like.  Situations like denying mortgage deductions if you use your home for purposes they don’t like, or denying your charity deductions if they don’t approve of the charities, or just taking away your standard deduction if you pay union dues, or denying you the right to claim your children if you spend money on educating them on things like the realities of global warming. The door is wide open here.”

Your Republican thief’s voted in to office this last cycle are really going to screw America royally this time, believe it.

Republicans Suck

More and more people are realizing that the Religiously led Republican Party of today is inimical to female humans.  Regarding the de-funding of Planned Parenthood, their general insensitivity to human suffering and wholehearted support of  a tax-free haven for the richest people on earth…at our expense.

“…But the current Republican party is a nightmare of stupidity and thuggish vileness, and they must be defeated at the ballot box, even at the cost of some sensible politician’s careers. Shut them down. Do not vote for any Republican, ever. The party has to be demolished, or the adults in the group have to rise up and slap down the idiots, the teabaggers, the Breitbarts and Palins and Bachmanns.”  PZ Myers at:  http://scienceblogs.com/pharyngula/

Christians Are Whiners

The Christian complains about an increasingly secular world, but the Republican Party is controlled by right wing evangelical fundamentalists.  No atheists allowed

The Air Force academy in Colorado is run by right wing evangelical fundamentalists. You either bend to what they want or you are an outcast and stand to lose your appointment.

Evangelical Christians are at it again. The proselytizing only-through-Christ bunch have now taken up desecration of non-Christian religious sites: Not Jews this time but Wiccans. What the hell goes through the minds of these evangelicals who think they can tell other religions—at a military academy no less—what to believe? At their core, evangelicals who despise pluralism are infantile.”
http://www.veteranstoday.com/2010/02/03/christians-desecrate-wiccan-religious-site-at-air-force-academy/

The troops on the ground in Afghanistan and Iraq are of the same family group of fundamentalists and they threaten the lives of atheist troops.

In most of the South and especially throughout the “Bible Belt” you are mostly a social outcast if you don’t fall into the dominant Christian group of your town- i.e. Baptist, Pentecostal, etc.

In the Middle East and Much of Asia if you decline membership in the Islamic religion you are a social outcast to 98 percent or more of the population…if you’re Jewish you are dead-meat.

In China the Christian believing population is exploding so fast the government is scrambling to keep up and control it.

In Australia the churches have access to school classes and it is smiled upon by the government.

So I’m just wondering where the hell Christians are getting this bit about secularism is getting worse and worse.  Maybe in Europe, where it is predicted that nine countries will go atheist in the next few years, but I certainly don’t see it in the rest of the world.

Christians are just a bunch of whiners anyway. 🙂

None of today’s problems are caused by Atheists – just think about it.” Cobourg Atheists

Republicans Want To Kill Off Middle Class

Mike Lux over at the Huffington Post has written an article that sent chills down my spine. His take on the currant Republican Party is spot-on.

“The modern Republican Party has been taken over by a lunatic fringe of conservatives that are making a concerted, determined assault on the American working middle class. They are trying to destroy unions for firefighters, cops, teachers, and nurses. They want to make dramatic cuts in Social Security, or privatize it entirely. They want to end the guaranteed health coverage of Medicare, and put seniors on their own, at the mercy of private insurance companies. They want to make dramatic cuts in nursing home coverage and medical care for the disadvantaged through Medicaid.”

I just refuse to believe that the majority of the American people want these things that the Republicans are pushing.  Do the blue collar and middle management people want to pay more taxes while millionaires and billionaires pay less?  This is exactly what will happen if the Republicans get their way.  Rape of the common person.

“The Ryan budget is a remarkable document: all of its budget cuts hammer working class families, seniors, and students — while all of its tax cuts go straight to millionaires. It does almost nothing to deal with the deficit, yet still manages to deal a death blow to virtually every member of the working middle class and everyone trying to work their way into it. It is especially hard on seniors and the most vulnerable in society in the midst of the toughest economic times since the Great Depression, doing serious economic damage to anyone who isn’t a millionaire, oil company, or Wall Street bank.”  Mike Lux @ Hufpo  (My bold emphasis)

I think we will be recreating a time in our history where America nearly went under.  Revolution anyone?

South Dakota Legislators Ponder Legalizing Murder

South Dakota is contemplating a law that would legalize the killing of abortion doctors, providers, or enablers.  Here

“The law that would legalize killing abortion providers is just one of several measures under consideration in the state that would create more obstacles for a woman seeking an abortion. Another proposed law, House Bill 1217, would force women to undergo counseling at a Crisis Pregnancy Center (CPC) before they can obtain an abortion. CPCs are not regulated and are generally run by anti-abortion Christian groups and staffed by volunteers—not doctors or nurses—with the goal of discouraging women from having abortions.”   (My emphasis)

Of course this outrageous and plainly crazy attempt to stop abortion is from the religious right and the Republican Party (who are actually controlled by the religious right).  The Republican Party is just batspit crazy anymore…all of them.  I am ashamed to admit that I voted it for over 40 years. They are driving our country into the ground and blaming it on the Democrats.

They would rather spend trillions of dollars (nearly bankrupting us) on an un-winnable war than assist our own citizens and help the poor and elderly (a thing that Jesus was explicitly for).  They don’t care about our children’s education…they are the first to cut funding to schools and research, but totally fund all war efforts and all the illegal no-bid contracts that is making multi-billionaires of a few favored political contributors (think Halliburton and the like).

What totally bewilders me is how they are able to make the average Joe believe that it’s in HIS own best interest to not support healthcare…in essence to keep the heavy contributors to republican political campaigns (HMO’s, PPA’s) as middle men and allow them to suck up billions of dollars from OUR pockets and return only mediocre or inferior service.

Look up where America stands in healthcare, infant mortality, delivery of services, etc., Look up where we stand in services to the handicapped, the impaired, elderly care, education of our youngsters.  We should all be ashamed.  And for God’s sake keep the government out of women’s decisions on motherhood…this is not a proper place for government to be.

Intelligent Design and Science

Interesting find while surfing this morning. The ID people keep claiming they’re all about science, but the never reveal any.

ISSR Statement on the Concept of ‘Intelligent Design’

The authors of this statement constitute a group set up for the purpose by the Executive Committee of the International Society for Science and Religion. Through a process involving consultation with all members of the Society, the statement has now been accepted by the Executive Committee for publication as a statement made on behalf of the Society.http://www.issr.org.uk/images/line.gif

The International Society for Science and Religion is a scholarly society devoted to ongoing dialogue between the sciences and the community of world faiths.  It was established in 2002 for the purpose of promoting education through the support of interdisciplinary learning and research in the fields of science and religion, conducted where possible in an international and multi-faith context.

The society greatly values modern science, while deploring efforts to drive a wedge between science and religion. Science operates with a common set of methodological approaches that gives freedom to scientists from a range of religious backgrounds to unite in a common endeavor. This approach does not deny the existence of a metaphysical realm but rather opens up the natural world to a range of explorations that have been incredibly productive, especially over the last 400 years or so.

The intelligent-design (ID) movement began in the late 1980s as a challenge to the perceived secularization of the scientific community, which leaders of the movement maintained had been coloured with the philosophy of atheistic naturalism. ID theorists have focused their critique primarily on biological evolution and the neo-Darwinian paradigm. They claim that because certain biological features appear to be “irreducibly complex” and thus incapable of evolving incrementally by natural selection, they must have been created by the intervention of an intelligent designer. Despite this focus on evolution, intelligent design should not be confused with biblical or “scientific” creationism, which relies on a particular interpretation of the Genesis account of creation.

We believe that intelligent design is neither sound science nor good theology. Although the boundaries of science are open to change, allowing supernatural explanations to count as science undercuts the very purpose of science, which is to explain the workings of nature without recourse to religious language.  Attributing complexity to the interruption of natural law by a divine designer is, as some critics have claimed, a science stopper. Besides, ID has not yet opened up a new research program. In the opinion of the overwhelming majority of research biologists, it has not provided examples of “irreducible complexity” in biological evolution that could not be explained as well by normal scientifically understood processes. Students of nature once considered the vertebrate eye to be too complex to explain naturally, but subsequent research has led to the conclusion that this remarkable structure can be readily understood as a product of natural selection. This shows that what may appear to be “irreducibly complex” today may be explained naturalistically tomorrow.

Scientific explanations are always incomplete. We grant that a comprehensive account of evolutionary natural history remains open to complementary philosophical, metaphysical, and religious dimensions. Darwinian natural history does preempt certain accounts of creation, leading, for example, to the contemporary creationist and ID controversies. However, in most instances, biology and religion operate at different and non-competing levels.  In many religious traditions, such as some found in Hinduism, Buddhism, and Taoism, the notion of intelligent design is irrelevant. We recognize that natural theology may be a legitimate enterprise in its own right, but we resist the insistence of intelligent-design advocates that their enterprise be taken as genuine science – just as we oppose efforts of others to elevate science into a comprehensive world view (so-called scientism). See the website: Here

Intelligent design is nearly universally condemned as science and as a concept. Most people recognize it for what it really is; a wedge devise to sneak WASP religion into our school systems. The only support for it is from evangelical fundamentalists, Young Earth Creationist (YEC), and some Old Earth Creationist (OEC).

Now proponents of Intelligent Design (ID) are using ‘Stealth Candidates’ who are running for positions on local and state school boards without declaring or admitting that they will advocate teaching ID in schools when elected. They just don’t get it…and they will try anything, including dishonesty, to achieve their goals. That they would use dishonesty in the furtherance of their religious sect speaks volumes about the true value of their faith.

Most people don’t analyze this battle enough, and don’t seem to realize that the ultimate goal of the religious right is to take over our country and remake it into a religious society; kind of like the Dark Ages in Europe when the Catholics ruled, and the strength and direction of your belief…decided whether you lived or died.  A lot of people don’t realize that the religious right has taken control of the Republican Party.

Cognite tute-think about it/use your head.
